Commissionerate Police issues strict guidelines ahead of festive season

Bhubaneswar, August 26: With the festive season approaching, the Commissionerate Police have rolled out stringent guidelines to ensure smooth and safe celebrations, particularly during Ganesh Puja.

As per the new directives, the use of DJs has been completely banned during Ganesh Puja. Devotional songs will be permitted but must strictly adhere to prescribed sound limits. Additionally, large decorative arches (torans) will not be allowed to obstruct public roads.

To maintain law and order, all musical and melody programs must conclude by 10 PM. Puja pandals are required to remain free from any form of intoxication, ensuring a sober and peaceful environment for devotees.

Security is being tightened, with CCTV surveillance made mandatory at all puja venues. Authorities have also warned of strict action against committees collecting donations illegally. Any instance of forced donation or extortion will result in immediate police action, with offenders facing legal consequences.

In anticipation of large gatherings, an extensive police force will be deployed across the city for crowd management. Night patrolling will be intensified to deter any untoward incidents. A dedicated blueprint has also been prepared to identify and apprehend miscreants during the festivities.

Furthermore, a complete ban has been imposed on the use of fireworks during immersion processions, aimed at preventing accidents and ensuring public safety.

The Commissionerate Police have urged citizens and organizers to cooperate fully to ensure a safe, orderly, and joyful festive season.
